Damned cold this morning at 4am. Minus 2 according to ambient indicator, sleet and frozen windscreen. My run to work is a straight road, traffic free (where I live is bleak) 7 mile straight run.
No problem starting but just before reaching my destination the car stopped. Lost all power and now I know just how many warning lights are on the dash. Sat there for 5 minutes then started (ok) and got to work.
I had a car many years ago that used to get ice crystals form in the carb with the same result (5 mins warm through and problem went away) so I thought it may be water in the fuel filter.
I bled the filter - was a bit contaminated - but once running again, every time I accelerated hard I lost all power. Stop for 2 mins and restarted ok.
Rather than bleed it again I managed to get a new filter and have fitted it now so I'll see if the problem persists.
I'll keep you posted.
Any one else similar problem? _________________ 95 Isuzu Bighorn (Lotus) 3.1 TD Auto

If there's contamination in the filter which you can actually see, bet the filter was competely blocked...
Had the same problem once with an old engine - would idle fine, but NO power... filter was recent but the tank was run low and blocked the filter up pretty quick.... _________________ For great insurance deals on 4x4s, imports and more, contact Adrian Flux :

as above either blocked filter or it's sucking air, it sounds as though it's not getting enough fuel any way |

All ok today - Just as cold but no problems with starting or running, so it was the fuel filter.
Fuel starvation did occur to me but after many miles at varying speeds this was the first problem I have encountered like this. The only filter I have not changed since ownership was the fuel. _________________ 95 Isuzu Bighorn (Lotus) 3.1 TD Auto
