Having recently spent a lot of money on a replacement engine with ancillaries I appear to have a problem with the alternator not charging the batteries. Before I have to shell out for a new alternator are there any other things I should check first. Both batteries are new but the voltmeter does not give any indication of gettign a charge. There are no warning lights showing. Vehicle is a 1997 3.1 TD Duty. Any advice welcomed.

Cheers

Richard James
