I'm aware that the amount of Kiwis who are members of this forum can be counted on 1 hand. Thought I'd add my 2c worth just for the future Trooper owners or even people who wish to bring their Trooper into NZ and want to find cheap insurance. They also cover non-residents who are touring around our fine country
My first vehicle is a 1988 Trooper (go figger) with 2.6L petrol engine. Only 1 insurance company would insure me with a 2.6L while under the age of 25. After trying to convince the main-stream insurance companies such as AMI Insurance, STATE Insurance, AANZ Insurance, that a 17 year old Trooper is hardly a target for theft nor a race car. They wouldn't have a bar of it and quite frankly didn't give a toss. As many people under 25 in NZ would agree, these main-stream companies are a pack of sharks just hanging out for the majority population in NZ which is ageing. (Baby-boomers, no offence to you guys at all!!)
National Auto Club is the only way to go. Even for those who want cheap insurance. http://www.natauto.co.nz
I can only get 3rd Party cover (Fire, theft, other parties vehicle damage repair) because of the vehicle value. NZ$348 for 12 months. (194.29 Euros, or about 133 pounds)
