At the moment my website is UK Hosted and has been for near 2 yrs, for the first year it was great but now its getting beyond the joke, constant database errors with things like "sql is missing" or "to many connections"  Rolling Eyes
Heres some examples

Quote:
Database error in vBulletin : Invalid SQL:SELECT varname, value, datatype FROM setting; MySQL Error : MySQL server has gone awayError Number : 2006Date : Tuesday, May 27th 2008 @ 09:47:58 PMScript : http://wwwxxxxxxx.me.uk/board/vbshout.phpReferrer : http://wwwxxxxxxx.me.uk/board/index.phpIP Address : 149.254xxxxxxxUsername : Classname : vB_Database

Database error in vBulletin : mysql_connect() [<a href='function.mysql-connect'>function.mysql-connect</a>]: User xxxxxx_xxxxxx already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections/home/xxxxx/public_html/board/includes/class_core.php on line 274 MySQL Error : Error Number : Date : Tuesday, May 27th 2008 @ 09:43:57 PMScript : http://wwwxxxxx.me.uk/board/index.phpReferrer : http://wwwxxxxxxx.me.uk/board/index.phpIP Address : 149.xxxxxxxxxUsername : Classname : vB_Database

What I need is reliable hosts that dont give lame excuses  Rolling Eyes

That top one, try rebuilding the database on the phpbb using sqlmyadmin if you've access to it, the 2nd one looks like your  board had too many active members hitting it though and it's causing you to exceed your limit of concurrent connections on the server - It will be in the t&c's when you set the board up...

What I know about sql you can write on the back of a very very small box of matches though Wink

You can try 1and1.co.uk

or how about

http://www.who.is/whois-com/ip-address/itocuk.com/

this chappy appears to do hosting Wink

Doesn't matter what the BB front end is, it's using an sql database in the back - each of those errors are specific to your board not the server, if you've access to the sqlmyadmin there's a repair function which re-syncronises the database back to itself, might fix the first error. Simon might also be worth a nudge... I don't think that they are due to server load, that would be a very slow running server, loads of page can't be displayed, and other bandwidth issues.

Keep an eye on /sda5 - that hits 100% and the server will go down.

re-start the spamd demon though - youve no spam filtering running by the look of it.  If you look though - who ever set that server up set aside a little too much space for the swap file, it's thrashing ram and hardly using swap.

Bet you that's a redhat or debian box though - running the 2.2.6 kernel (2.6.~ is the bleeding edge on at the moment - 2.2.6 is the last of the 2.2's which was out - so it's pretty rock solid)

You running an open mail server on there though?? that pop demon?  If that's what it is, try to get the spam one re-enabled asap else you'll get every script kiddy under the sun routing spam via that to the outside world.

Its shared hosting, I have no control over the server itself, ideally I need VPS but cant afford it at the moment  Sad
The hosting company is based in Fife and the server itself in london.
I sent a ticket asking why max connections is 10, they said it isnt and theres no way I can see what it is, derrrrr its there in my admin  Laughing
