Which version of linux?

I tend to use banshee for music or Rythmbox for the ipod. If your using Ubunto you need to enable the 3rd party repositories for MP3 playback due to the licencing issues.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RestrictedFormats

If it's a different version on linux (redhat, suse, debian...) there will be different ways.

Congrats Very Happy

The headache of setting up is worth it !!

Just remeber google is your friend.

always include the OS version, so try a search for "suse mp3 10.0" on google, and the first hit is :-

"MP3 on SuSE 10 - Linux Forums8 Apr 2006 ... MP3 on SuSE 10 SuSE Linux Help. ... I've installed SuSE 10, i use KDE and xmms and i cannot playback mp3 files ..."

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=opera&rls=en&hs=Nra&q=suse+mp3+10.0&btnG=Search

welcome to the command line as well - it's daunting to start with, but you'll get there.

Banshee is very good, and also Rhythmbox - They both have an itunes like layout - it's been a while since I've used Suse (I'm on Ubuntu at teh moment), but I think it's YUM you need to use to add applications. Something along the lines of add programs, or add applications on the start menu.
