|
|
After i got the trooper started eventually yesterday , and changed the oil ( semi synthetic ) i did not change the filters as i could not get replacements . which could be a major factor in all this
The oil seemed to be fairly liquid after letting the engine run for half hour and about ten miles of driving . She started with no trouble this morning. I then did a 90 mile round trip to work returning at 1pm. After checking the oil on the dipstick at 6pm , it is thick and treacle consistency , Is this the case that some of what "plopped" out was still in the engine ,
or has it in the short space of time ( 100 miles ) done it to the oil again. Or what else could cause this to happen?
She normally runs on a 70/30 veg/derv mix
for about the last 300 miles she has been solely on Derv
From advice i now know that the veg oil does polymerises the engine oil and requires changing every 2500 to 3k miles
i must admit that there has been a fair bit of black smoke on start up but seemed not to be there this morning after the oil change yesterday
what is the best thing to do to clean this engine out ? Yes i can hear everyone shout CHANGE THE FILTERS
If i put some cheapo 10/40 multigrade in for a short trip that i have to do ( 20 miles ) with some engine flush , and then drop the oil again , will that oil do any damage ?
another advice was to disconnect the egr ! . and blank off the rubber bit ? What does this actually do ? |

The 3.0 relys on the 5W30 grade to run correctly... I wouldnt use any other grade or you could run into further issues.
p.s. Please keep all replies for the same issue/problem in the same thread - this will ensure the answers given are of the highest quality |

i dont own a 3.0 but i am shore that it HAS to be fully synthetic. your motor relays on the oil to fire up the injectors. i know what you are thinking. full synthetic is expencive but see the bill if you dont use it mate . that can of oil will look well cheap _________________ presumption is the mother of all f**kups |
