Gave the car (a 2001 3.0 TD) an oil and filter change yesterday.

Mistakenly tried to start the car with the engine in gear. Car surged forwards. Took it out of gear and tried to restart.

Now all I can hear is a "click" (starter motor solenoid?) but engine won't turn over. I can bump start it (and have run the car for 5 minutes) but starter motor still not working....

Any ideas?

If I have to remove the starter motor can someone describe where it is and how to get it out?

Thanks!

they do like to do the clutch on the starter i've changed a few for that problem but if you want to remove it it's on the near side and easier to do with the dipstick tube removed 2 17mm bolts hold it to the bell housing and a 12mm nut with a spade connector are on the back
