Didn't quite know where to ask so put it here, since it is fuel related. .
Is there a decent source of 20litre jerry cans and non rip-off prices?
Also, what's the best way to attach to a LWB Trooper??
I have seen the holders but don't see how (or if) they'll fit _________________ '93 Trooper Duty 3.1TD |

On a roof rack as long as it's not metal on metal (sparks) on the rear door if they are bolted... inside if you don't mind the smell...
Remember that jerrys can explode in an acident though. _________________ For great insurance deals on 4x4s, imports and more, contact Adrian Flux :

I'd be very reluctant to mount a fuel filled jerry can on the rear door although I did in my old Suzuki SJ when we went to Spain in it. One hard shunt and you've got fuel everywhere. The roof is the best bet but remember to only part fill them so to leave room for expansion. If you fill them the right amount you can open the filler with them laid on edge on the roof filler up , insert a syphon tube and refuel without having to lug them down. I have a couple of old ones and the problem is not so much corrosion as the paint lining peeling off and coming out with the fuel, I had a blocked fuel filter because of this in the MK1. Trick is always to use a funnel with a filter in when pouring them out. _________________ Phil

We were just chatting about biodiesel while out yesterday and Kirsty asked what you'd do if you needed fuel and wasn't local to a biodiesel outlet.
I said I believed it'd be fine to chuck in some pump derv but then we were discussing the virtues of carrying jerry cans of bio-diesel.
Still waiting to hear from the local supplier though. _________________ '93 Trooper Duty 3.1TD |

Got mine from scewfix, their as cheap as anywhere else and the quality is good too, the only prob is you end up buying stuff you don't need to claim the free delivery
I carry 40-60l/day for my JCB, the reason i use jerry cans is i carry them inside the troop and they never leak but 25l plastic drums do
I also carry a old rag to wipe any dribble's off the side of the can after ive filled the JCB
As for a good pouring spout, ive never found one, they all seem to leak _________________ 2011 3.0l Hilux Invincible

i've got an old ex-army jerrican i've been toying with fitting to the back of my trooper - but, given the current spiralling cost of fuel, i think having an externally mounted jerrican is just asking to have your motor vandalised, as people will inevitably try to nick it.
if these fuel prices keep going through the roof, it's going to be like mad max out there, before long! _________________ *************************** |
