What should be the normal pressure ( shown on the guage) on a S reg (98) 3.oL DOHC trooper?

should be around the 85 mark when warm,
mine when cold goes over the 85 mark and when hot on tickover sits just below the 85 and as the revs rise goes back to around the 85,
hope this helps

Thanks for that Rallymarshall, the reason i asked was that mine varies from ?83-86. Cant seem to get my head around the pressure, can you please explain the pressure differences when the oil level is lower than normal. Am i coorect in thinking that if the oil level is lower than normal, the pressure reads lower than normal? Can you please advise? Thanks in advance.

the oil pressure drops slighlty when engine is warm if it dropping down when warm when engine is idling mine goes back to the 85 mark when accelarating hard

the oil level should have no effect to the pressure, unless theres no oil in the sump to register the oil pressure,
around the 83-86 mark is normal, some days after a realy hard thrash mine will go down to the 1/4 position but its not very often
