Always use a 3 leg with a 3/8ths ratchet and a long extension , never had a problem getting it out of the gap though

Hand tight plus one third to nip it up. Hand tight is asking for a wrecked engine.

Always give it a 1/4 turn with the 3 leg , a big old engine like the 3.1 vibrates too much for just hand tight

they are right though mate. you need to tighten it up with a tool as it works lose and drips oil over the drive due to the vibrations
