Hi guys.
Last December she (bighorn 3.1 ltd lotus etc 1994) sailed through the MOT but I was given an advisory of getting her undersealed.
My mates at work have mentioned just painting on old engine oil, some mentioned a wax oil and 1 or 2 mentioned good old bitumen.
So.... I thought I would ask the people that WOULD know whats best seeing as the bad weather is moving in and obviously the MOT is due again in December.
Tips on how/where to apply it would be appreciated too.
And do I wire brush the old flakey stuff off etc?

I would use waxoil and get it nice and warm so it gets everywhere apart from the brakes  
And yes, brush away all the flaky bits.
I would go as far as pressure washing it first, cleaner the better

You want the probe to get it into the chassis as they tend to rot from the inside out.

I recently went to have my 2002 LWB undersealed but the guys said there was no point whilst I still have my weeping oil leak (posted elsewhere) - there is a little spread of oil along the underside in the region of beneath the Passenger footwell.

He reckon the Engine oil would make the Waxoyl deteriate and 'fall off' making it pointless.
I was very surprised. Something like Petrol, perhaps diesel yes I would understand but I wouldn't think Engine oil on Waxoyl to be a problem.

I walked away to return another day.
