As I climbed out of my Monterey earlier tonight I heard a loud noise and found that the curved spring underneath the drivers seat had snapped..Can anyone tell me if theses springs are available or is it another seat required..Any help would be most welcome
Cheers

I've got one busted on mine, too. It gives me a heck of a numb bum after a while.
I was thinking of either taking the seat out and trying to find a sheet of something stiff but flexible - maybe polystyrene or even a bit of 2 or 3 ply - and slide it between the remaining springs and the squab foam to bridge the gap.
I also thought it might be worth swapping the front seat squabs since the driver's side has been sat on for about 100k miles whilst the passenger one has probably been sat on for no more than 10k at the most. |

I'd have thought any automotive upholsters would be able to help. I would imagine seat springs are pretty universal. _________________ Phil

I don't think they are, Philip - they look pretty specific to me.
I found that the spring that was broken on mine was the second to rearmost. The rearmost is right under the backrest and my bum isn't sharp enough to get any weight that far back! So, I simply removed the rearmost spring and moved it forward one space - easy!
The job's a good 'un, cost nothing and it only took a little under an hour including removing and refitting the seat. |

same happened to me and of corse it was the middle 1 (just where ur bum wud be) but 3 other springs had came unfixed...
easy fix...i took seat out (5 min job only 4 bolts) put springs back into holders that were ok (dead simple) spring that snapped done the same but took a bit more pulling accross (but where mine snapped i'd omly lost 1 loop if you have a look at springs u'll no what i mean)...pair of pliers and some good old fashioned brute force...job done.....i've now had to reposition my rear view mirror as i'm now sitting back higher _________________ LTM NO.41 |

Try visiting an upholserers. They sell all types of springs and don't cost very much. |

Is it the spring itslef snapped? Usually there is a little ring that attaches to the frame, that the spring hooks onto. All you have to do is take the seat out and stretch the spring to the frame and hook it on there - only a few millimeteres, but may get you swearing!
I had a few of those to do! When you do this though, get a few strong cable ties and wqrap around to stop it working loose again (just stops it sliding out) |
