I have an intermittent starting issue on my 2.8 Frontera, where one minute it starts fine then the starter just clicks. Assuming the wiring is OK, and at 1st glance it looks OK, is there anything to be gained from stripping the motor, one would assume it's the solenoid, are they available, and from where, or just bung a new starter in? I ain't that good with elektrickery! Ta _________________ Every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff from out of my brain.

Your easiest way is to put another starter on for peace of mind
If you take the old one off , put a new solenoid on then its ok for a few weeks then it goes wrong again you wont be best pleased |

the same happened to my 2.8 frontera .... ..
got another one from that well known auction site ...... fitted it ...........then that went wrong ..
ended up paying out for a genuine vx starter ....which meant i was 225 quid lighter
if you take it to bits ....check the brushes on the negative side are making contact with the commutator properly _________________ pka muddycarl

There is a big lucas autoelectrical place down there ,you go up past burger king off the main dock road opposite the harley bike place and do a right , bin there many times when working on dead diggers at the docks, sure they would have a LR (lucas or delphi) match for yours at a bit less £. |
