Is anyone else having problems updating their AVG anti virus (Free edition version 8) ?
Normally no problems, until a couple of days ago when they launched some program updates. It'll download the updates (sometimes), and then quits half way through writing them, telling me " write error, not enough memory"..... I've got 1.7Gb free  Shocked  Confused .

Other times it simply quits half way through downloading them  Confused .

I've checked my free memory, and scanned the whole system for rootkits etc. Just wondered if it's them or me ?

On previous occasions i have had similar problems(not at the moment though) I have ended up uninstalling avg and reinstalling it. Probably not the best solution but it has worked every time.

Make sure your router is turned off, go into task manager "place arrow on taskbar, right click and select task manager" go to processes tab, end processes that have avg at the start, then try uninstalling avg again.

This usually works for me. Wink

If you have installed AVG 8.0 Free Edition on your computer and need to install different components or repair the installation, please proceed as follows:

Download the latest AVG installation installation file from the Download section of our website
When you are prompted, please do not open this file directly from the Internet, but click the "Save" button and choose a location where the installation file should be stored. We recommend saving the file to the Desktop.
Locate the downloaded AVG installation file (it has a four color square icon and its name starts with AVG...) and launch the installation by double-clicking on it.
The following screen will be displayed during the installation process:
Add/Remove Components - choose this option if you want to add or remove some AVG component
Repair installation - this option repairs or reinstalls missing or damaged components of AVG
Uninstall - this option removes the AVG program from your PC

Well, I've just tried it again ( about the 12th time now ), and it's updated the same file batch perfectly.
The files did appear slightly different, so it must have been an error at their end  Rolling Eyes .
I hate it when that happens, coz you start to think your going mad  Rolling Eyes .
