Hi im new and just got myself a 2000 x reg trooper 3.0

Iv put new glow plugs in and still have major starting problems even when engine is warm.

And also a little misfire

Is this a common fault with this year  and is there a easy fix

Im not one of they.. Laughing  but till they get here...... Wink

1-Are you aware the 3.0 4JX1 engine takes a lot more cranking to fire than most diesels?,how long to fire up hot/cold?
2-What oil is in it and when was it last changed?...needs to be 5/30 fully synthetic...most peeps do oil and filters every 6K and oil every 3k.This engine is very oil sensitive due to the HP oil charged injection system....
3-Details of slight misfire-hot/cold-full acceleration etc as much info as poss.
4-Have you spoken to good dealer and checked the recall status?

If you could answer these it gives the experts a better lead in to help you...
Cheers and welcome... wave

He must at the whist drive  Smile   First step is to ring IM  - the numbers in the sticky at the start of the forum and see if any recalls are due on the car as that work is free.

The hard starting could be wrong oil or a fault with the rail oil pressure sensor or rail oil pressure control valve or a faulty oil pick up pipe ,this can be tested by putting in 2 litres more oil over the full mark ,the first two require tech II the dealer diagnostic  tool.
Also fuel running back from the head would give starting faults as would the pipes on top of the fuel tank being rusty and letting in air.
The misfire could be the start of an injector problem so its wants doing soonest .

Need some more info as robbo posted .

Depends on what they find and your recall status, but a good dealer will asess and speak to you b4 any work carried out, major prob was injectors, pretty much defo FOC......also I believe, turbo, oil p/p pickup and ceramic heater were under recall.....

Best of luck....
