I've just changed from alloys to steel wheels. The alloys stuck out from the body but the steels don't and now the body of the trooper isn't getting nearly as much muck thrown at it Anyone want a set of cobra alloys? _________________ 97 3.1TD LWB RED! |

Steve
Backspace is the measurement from the mating face of the wheel/drum to the inside face of the wheel rim, and offset (which can be pos or neg) is the measurememt from the centre line of the rim to the mating face of the wheel/drum. If the rim centre line is outboard of the wheel/drum face its positive, if inboard its negative.
From measurement of my own OME steel wheels the offset is a negative 35mm or thereabouts.
I am looking for some alloy wheels myself (See my post asking for info) and didnt want to the same problem as you seem to have had. Interseting that you specified "Isuzu Tooper" in your order in that Formula 4 x 4 list various wheels as suitable for the Isuzu but dont give any info on offset.
Hope this helps'

Spoke to Formula 4x4 today. So unhelpful I just cannot beleive it. I told them that the offset on the wheels was 1 1/2 inches different than the stock wheels t which they replied...
'but if you had standard size tyres it would work'
'Yes, but I didn't order standard size tyres did I?'
'No - but we did say that the 235's may be too big for the trooper'
'The tyres would be just fine if the offset was correct'
'But we sell these wheels for troopers and they work fine on standard tyres'
.... and so the argumet went on. I've taken the guy's name and am putting pen to paper tonight.... _________________ Steve F

Fifth4x4
Stick out? like how much?? I'm just wondering if the standard extended arches of the 3l will accommodate your 'stick out'?
And what pattern are the rims please?

They don't stick out that much and suspect the extended arches would accommodate it. I never noticed it when i bought the vehicle it was only when it was parked next to two friends that have troopers. I can't remember how to post pics but you might just be able to see the pattern in my avatar. They are a sort of three spoke (if you could call it that ) pattern and are made by Cobra. _________________ 97 3.1TD LWB RED! |
