Try as I might I never manage to catch any flies, I have better luck with fly paper than a rod!  Nice looking fish, my late grandad was a fly fisherman, all split cane rods and hand tied flies.  I think my mum sold all his tackle when he died as a lot of it was pretty old and quite collectable, hell even his fishing caravan owned by him and a mate had genuine war surplus  supermarine spitfire wheels and tyres on it!

I own some fishing up near Fort William, but these came from a lake near where I live.
On an Army camp where the first half of Full Metal Jacket was filmed!

Fly fishing is something I haven't tried, living a mile from the sea means I have time for only one style! Saying that, I haven't caught anything as delicious looking as those for a while!

I'm up near Mallaig every July, usually fish Loch Morar although my "fly " technique leaves a lot to be desired. Any tuition available would be most welcomed - did I say I usually finish the day with a nice malt Wink

Technique, Well I think it is practice, practice and practice. And then there is more to learn!

Know how you feel, its good to get your dinner by your own endeavours, rather than going to the local supermarket, whether it be with rod or dog&gun..

Sound advice..if you're up Fort William way in the summer perhaps you might care to join us pitting our wits against the wild brownies...and the midges Laughing
