DAB.
Got belt renewed today.... £153 at Isuzu dealership. They're contacting Isuzu re injector replacement.
Labour 0.9 hrs at £60/hour; material over £70 and Alistair Darling and Big Gordy took just over £20, although they didn't appear in the workshop. Cambelt is so important that I thought I'd use dealer for peace of mind, and I assume belt carries some form of guarantee.
Got earlier quote from ex-Isuzu dealer, where I bought the car, of £97. Service manager said it wasn't a difficult job, when I asked him to confirm price, because I was pleasantly surprised. This garage is out of the way, and since they couldn't do anything about recall I decided against using them. I didn't ask if replacement belt was Isuzu part.
Garage where my son lives quoted around £240! Mechanic spent some time on computer, lots of sharp intakes of breath, quoted Isuzu "standard" time, but said it was a very difficult job, so he added a "safety factor".
Quite a range of prices and views (tall tales more-like) on the complexity, or otherwise of this job. Pays to shop around. |

I thought the ford pinto cambelt change on my kit car was the easiest ever until I did my 3.0 trooper belt just recently
Must admt it was easier still because I also had the radiator out as well.
Your price was fair for a commercial organisation doing it properly and making a reasonable profit on the job. _________________ 2001 3.0 DT LWB Duty - Dragon Green Metallic. |

My Trooper is approaching the 100k mark and i'm wanting to get cam belt changed. Nearest main dealer is about an hour away so I wanted opinions on whether a local garage can be trusted with it? It's beyond my technical ability |
