They're 2 but the current owner has said that they're used to fences and just wander up to them and then turn around. If they do get over I'll just make the fence higher. Am thinking of covering the top in wire too just a little more prevention for foxes etc. _________________ 99/00 Frontera B 3.2 V6

A fox would hop over that like it wasn't there.
I got the oleman a load of old "harris" fence panels (you'd have seen them used as building site perimeter fencing, mesh panels 3.6mtrs x 1.8mtrs)
they have 6inch legs that would normally slot into feet then there metal clipped together.
He pushes the legs into the ground and cable ties them together this he can change the area and shape fairly easily,I'll try and get a picture or 2 sometime soon. As for the height he's had to drape a fine green netting over the top as from time to time they do make a bid for freedom.
He does buy a corn feed but they will eat anything else from grass cuttings to each other. _________________ aka x66dag

to stop them making a bid for freedom you should clip their wings, one of mine on the first day managed to get over a 6 foot fence panel and was happily eating the food in the allotments behind us when i found her
Foxs can easily bite through chickn wire like you have, i used some more robust wire with builders pins to hold in place and move around
The omlet style runs have the wire which extends out about 6 inches and is said to be fox proof
Thanks for your help guys. I guess we'll have to get some higher wire then! Anyone know what the fox repellent pellets are like? They've been recommended to us. I would like the sentry gun that fires 1,000,000 a minute. It's on you tube somewhere. Bursts of 180. Should cure fox and little erberts at the same time
The current owner is a friend of Debbies and she says they've never tried to fly the coup and tend to follow you everywhere. Also they like playing with spaghetti!!!!!! _________________ 99/00 Frontera B 3.2 V6

The best wire is the square box stuff (if that makes sense) and from what I read just pee around the place, foxes dont like Man pee
I also saw what foxes are capable of
The things have tin snips for gobs, or they have batmans utility belt. _________________
We got some of the box wire yesterday and put it up around the pen again. also made it much higher. Found some old rabbit run bits in the garage so used them too. Will definitely look out for some of that fencing though. Does nothing try to dig under it DAG???? _________________ 99/00 Frontera B 3.2 V6

Surprisingly no but he's also (touch wood ) not had any fox attacks either, Rats have had 2 tho killed them and tried dragging them down their holes in the coup (came up through the wooden floor not under the fence)
As you can see they really can desacrate the ground and these are well feed ones, about time we moved the fences about
nice job on yours with the heavyer wire. _________________ aka x66dag

Thanks mate. Through the floor? Good god I wouldn't expect that. We're thinking of getting a roll of turf a month from B&Q and rolling it out for them to try to keep the grass a little better. That way we can keep them where they are and just give them the turf. Better a small patch worn than the whole garden _________________ 99/00 Frontera B 3.2 V6
It was mentioned earlier about them following you about, My mother now and again hand feeds them with a bit of cheese and they are like bloomin puppies now. One of the chickens they lost even used to sit behind their heads in the car if they went anywhere. _________________
Yep these do follow you about. One will sit on your arm while you feed it bread. There's only one that's a pain to catch but the others are great!!!! I never would've thought that chickens have personalities but they do!!!! _________________ 99/00 Frontera B 3.2 V6
