few jobs to do to the troop while its sitting there dormant
main one its time to get underneath and have a clean up
dont want to be replacing cross members in years to come
thing is i carnt decide whether to just paint some of these bits in hamerite
or just wax oil everything not a big fan of underseal it just hides stuff
thanks in advance richard _________________ isuzu 3.0 about to be a 3.1 it is now

dinitrol is better, get yours steam cleaned first.. try your local commercial garage theyll do it for a couple quid as lorries need cleaning prior to testing. saves getting stinking. |

Well, I am treating the outside of the chassis and underside with 3M body shutz. the next step is going to be
Waxoyl inside the chassis. If you go to the right supliers you can get body shutz at about £3.50 a can.
You will need a sprayer to suit the body shutz can and a compressor. The same with Waxoyl. Waxoyl is between £25 and £30 a gallon (4.5 Litres).
Waxoyl claim it will cure any rust already there and stop any new rust forming.
My Trooper is 20 years old. If this gives me another 5 years it will be money well spent.
Mechanicaly it is sound, untill I break it. |

My suggestion would be to use a mix of underseal based product and waxoil.
Pressure wash (or better steam-clean), dry, then wire brush any obvious loose material, use the underseal on the cleaned exposed surfaces (where waxoil would wash off) and use waxoil in the cavities, heat the waxoil first and use a good pressure...
Had mine done this way and it's still looking good. _________________ '00 3.5i V6 SWB Trooper (18 MPG )
