Before I start plugging things in
Is it simlar to the output on a lappy or can you just plug a speaker in ?

a normal speaker would work but you would be better with the proper thing
there made of metal and waterproof

So it has a rated output and doesnt need an amp ?
I have a small plastic horn speaker out of an alarm system, about 3".

i just plug in the back and away you go
had one on my scania for about 5 yrs tucked up in the roof airfoil the wire had to be replaced once
