I have found Kurust to be pretty good. However as always with rust you have to get it back to metal almost before anthing can do much good. Then after that liberal amounts of Kurust, leave it fo a while, then decent primer coats and then paint.. I have also found that grey Zinc primer is a good rust inhibitor as well, as opposed to the normal grey stuff.

The best one I've found is Bilt-Hambers Deox-C which is a proper rust remover, it comes as either a powder you mix with water and then soak bits in or a gel you can use on stuff like bodywork, you leave it one 24 hours (maybe under some cling film and then wash it off with water and the rust just washes off.  The follow it up with their Hydrate 80 converter to deal with any that might be left and then some zinc rich primer.

I did these very rusty steel shutters with it.  They were just soaked overnight in it in a container made from a hole dug in my earth cellar floor lined with a sheet of plastic, the a quick scrub with a wire brush and a wash off.  The brown one is before, middle is after de-rusting and the green one painted.

He is gonna be busy digging a hole big enough to fit the Trooper in Very Happy

Though those shutters did come up a treat. Good work.
