Yer close but it goes in through the small metal tube just in front of the manifold  .

There is a sealing washer either side of the domed 17mm nut and another one at the bottom of the tube which is the usual suspect here, if possible use Izuzu parts and dont overtighten the tube back into the head as its alloy .

The fuel is leaking the other side between the manifold and head where the gasket is

you need to take the tube out and replace the washer on the end of it so undo the 17mm domed nut and remove the pipe, then undo the 24mm support collar and then unscrew the tube. on the end should be a black washer if it's genuine isuzu so replace it and reassemble but don't over tighten the 24mm support collar or it pulls the tube off the head and your back to square one.

Er , um . When you say the other side which bit do you mean exactly ? Ther is no fuel going through the manifold in goes in the head down the pipe and out the back through a plate and another pipe .

PostPosted: Thu Aug 19, 2010 18:38    Post subject: Fuel inlet tube leak Reply with quote

I have to admit I dont know a lot about fixing engines so please accept my ignorance.

I have  1999 3.0TD

Engine was leaking fuel.

I found leak, removed metal tube which screws into side of engine block beside water temp thermostat.

Tried to put it all back together and tube snapped leaving part of thread in engine block.

How big a job is it to get into this thread and remove same, and then replace tube ?

Does anyone know the proper part name or number

Or is engine unrepairable ?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

if you remove the inlet manifold your looking at the hole as it screws in to the side of the head, very common and you can get it on it's own,

Thanks for the prompt response.

Have you any links or photo's showing which part (manifold) I shouldbe removing ?

What else do I have to remove to get to this manifold ?

Scared I do more damage, but keen to do the job myself if I can.

it's the whole inlet manifold so it's the bit that the tube passes through, it's not too bad a job but you will need a new gasket and a couple of the bolts behind the high pressure oil pump are a pig to get on

Hi,

I am trying to get hold of a replacement tube part which  goes in through the inlet manifold.

Is this tube called a glow plug ? Main Isuzi Dealer asking me this question after I sent some photo's of the part.

He reckons there will be four of them.

Any help once again appreciated.
