I posted this on another forum and Im going to re-post it here.

My 2005 doesn`t finish well Confused
Last Friday after work I was travelling to spend the new year party with family when the Temp raised before the red zone (it never touched it), I stopped the engine in the same second and parked the 4x next to the road. I had cracked a little old water hose from the oil cooler. It was on highway around 5:00 am at 150 km from next city and without a spare hose for replace it. I got my family`s home next day exactly at 24:00 pm when all fireworks were painting the dark sky. That was the funny part. Bad part now is my engine is using a lot of oil, 4 liters in 700 kilometers in my return trip and an ugly lapping sound after that (I hate it). I think I have serious troubles in my head valve.

So...Have an eye or both on these 10 or more years old hoses from your engine. Now Im going to replace every hose in mines.

This is the famous hose. It seems like a garden hose...very very weak

cheers all
A very sad Dani. Sad

Sorry to hear that Dani. Stock hoses are *beep* and I'm amazed how long they last. It's a great idea to replace them with good quality when they need it, but too late for you though... Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

OK...today Saturday I did the oil/filter change in my engine. I noticed a better running on it before that. Blue smoke disappeared and lapping sound now is less (peak of this sound is at 1000 RPMs). Only problem is it throws a white puff on starts with cold or warmed engine. Any ideas ??...I think it could be a cracked cyl head gasket. Hope don`t be a cracked cylinder head...hughh !!! Confused ...could be a dilated timing belt ??

Im feeling better before the oil/ filter change. My engine is getting normal little by little. It makes me happy. Smile

PD: Tomorrow Im leaving home. I`ll be out 2 months, so the cylinder head inspection will have to wait until my return. Whatever I`ll log time to time from cybercoffees.

cheers Smile

My wifes 18 month old Landrover Freelander has now had three new turbo hoses in 49K miles, pretty poor IMO. My 100K mile 15 year old trooper is still on all it's original hoses as far as I know.

Fortunately the Freelander is a company car and so we don't have to pay for it but since we've had it from new (July 2004) its had the following:

New Fuel pump
3 x turbo hoses
1 x injector
1 x cam sensor
1 set of clutch hydraulics
1 Turbo boost modulator

Pish poor really and its still starting very rough, IMO it has a duff heater plug as it's only from cold but because nothing is recorded on their damn computer according to the dealer it has no fault..

Dani, sounds like a head gasket - hope it's not the head..

Philp, had mine now over 2 years and 30,000 miles driven - almost at 100K. In that time I've spent on repairs. er, nowt (except brake pads and oil changes). Not even a new hose - nothing. All equipment, except for service items totally original.
