Can anyone tell me a decent radio system to go for? I was looking at the midland 248 xl but I'm new to cb's so just wondered if anyone had any opinions on which brand to go for
Thanks

Depends what you want it for?

To keep intouch with other parties in an offroad outing?

Anything will do

If you want to get as far as possible you need an old fm cb or one with a built in burner/amp

I can talk to people at least ten miles away with a £35 old amstrad cb that only kicks out 4watts (some are 20-25watts standard)

Also a good cb is useless without a good aerial

Again depends on use.

Mine is about 30yrs old  Laughing
Unlike the CB heyday you dont need anything special as the airwaves are pretty much empty  Cool
But I do like ones that stay on channel when you turn it off then on rather than going to ch9 or 19 everytime.
and as Dylan says, a decent ariel is a must, I have a thunderpole mini springer on a large mag mount.
