I have just collected my new work van,a VW transporter, and the the buggers have put a 70mph restriction on it. I have been told that this is a one write only to the ECU and to unrestrict it, its a new ECU. Anybody know if this is true, or a cheap fix that I can do.

Shouldn't be one write then, new ecu's have to be re-programmable to change parameters and do updates. I'm pretty sure all vw ecu's are reprogrammable from around 1999 on. The limiter may be a seperate unit rather than in the ecu itself but certainly if it's in the ecu it should be able to be coded out. Try and find someone with vag com or get it yourself and code it out via computer.
