Hi ,  recently bought an '01 3.0TD Insignia, and really impressed up to now.
However, I have a fault that I was aware of when I bought the car.
It has a Phillips ARC549 RDS RC head linked to a 4 stack Phillps CD , both in the dash.
Here's the issue, the volume control button's on the RC head unit are worn out and don't work, one volume setting that it came with.
Halfords say that I can't get an old type head control unit to link to a CD ! , anyone know different.
Or, anyone know where I could pick up an original ?

Cheers, Mitch Cool

A good electrician should be able to fix that for a few pence as they are only micro switches.

Or are any of these any good? maybe different part no's but you never know.

I had exactly this problem.

I could turn volume down (- button) but + button was totally random sometimes not working for days and other very rare days working fine.
Living in the Highlands of Scotland was an issue on this occasion.  Our nearest Car Audio repairer is 2 hours away in Perth ! They fixed it once but it only lasted a couple of weeks. They told me they couldn't get the parts to do it again.

I like my CD changer and didn't want to change everything. Other audio specialists told me I needed to join the 21st Century and get an ipod connectable unit !!!!!! But I am happy as I am (and I have a 5 year old so I am not that old !!!)

So - the answer.  I took it to Turkey (when visiting my parents in law) and got it fixed there. 5 months on it is still working perfectly.

If anyone needs help with this, please let me know.

Denise
