Hi all,
I've only been a Trooper owner for about 5mins and it may already be over!
We 'acquired' a Trooper from a friend moving away (we live in France - car came from husband's friend). I believe it to be about 1997; log book currently missing, I'm filling in the N. Ireland DVA form to apply for a cert of permanent export
HOWEVER, since I've registered 2 cars in France before, I know the drill and, this afternoon, when I opened the bonnet up to get all the info I'll need for the Certificate of Conformity, I realised that everything's in Japanese, therefore this car will not actually conform to European standards, I believe (because it's a 'grey' export (?) - didn't even know what that was until this afternoon!!).
I have been ringing around various Isuzu offices - Birmingham TOTALLY USELESS and redirected me to customer services which turned out to be the AA!!! I understand the offices in Italy are more helpful - also in Belgium. Any experiences?
However - I'm fast thinking that all we can do with the car is to scrap it! Seems a shame, as it goes well although needs a wing replaced.
Has anyone any advice at all (remembering that I don't need advice on the registration process in France , because I know the ropes).
I did read somewhere (many websites ago!) that some people know of garagistes in France who have experience in registering 'grey' vehicles?
Any and all leads much appreciated |

If a CE marks needed to get it registered in France you can do it by using the EU type approval system as its allready been done by Isuzu. The 3.1 Trooper and the 3.0 fall into this group and the 2.8 was pre EU standards harmonizations .
If you have a Bighorn model ,thats one that was only meant for the Japanese home market then it wont be on the list but as its basically the same car you can get your own CE certificate by compiling a technical file showing the cars technical spec and then submitting it to the CE lot in Brussels but it may take some time .
If you post the year and the spec (trim, colour, engine, transmission, extras) I might be able to help a bit more as I've had this problem with USA made lifting gear. _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |
