We did a run to Bromsgrove then to Blackwood in Monmouth today then home, with a bit of running around we started off with quarter of a tank put 30 lts and did the whole trip and got back with just over a what we started out with.
She's still running really well in fact she seems to be smoother and not as noisy as she was when we first got her. |

OK we had a small problem as the weather has cooled down, our Bighorn 3.1TD started to cough and splutter at around 70mph this was running on 100% rapeseed oil. We kept going for another week running up the M5 and over the Second Severn Crossing it ran lumpy until just after the bridge, then it was fine. A couple of days later we started her up and she ran rough from the minute we took off down the road. We drove around 2 miles and as we started to turn right to go into fill up with diesel, we had around a quarter of a tank of rapeseed left, she died. My other half gave the key a turn and she, the Bighorn that is, burst back into life. So we went in and filled her up with the expensive stuff. She then started and ran no problems. We're going to run her on 50/50 to see how that goes, before the winter sets in.
But just a reminder to anyone who's thinking of going down the veg oil route, don't forget to change your fuel filter, it's an easy job that can be done on the side of the road, just don't get a kink in the clear plastic tube at the bottom or you'll get a water trap warning light on the dash. |
