On removing the alt i found that the three small pipes that run from a tank to the block about 7mm diameter and one tees off to the top of the alt had come loose at the tee fitting. I dont know if i'd done this by accident trying to remove the alt or when i took it offroading. Would this cause the alt to fail? The pipes where pretty perished at the tee junction any way and are very slack when i re fit them. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appriciated. Thanks. Matt |

That sounds like the vac pipes ,wont cause the alt to fail but might give you some 4wd issues . _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |

The smaller vac pipes work the 4wd on the front axle and the exhaust flap and a bit of the EGR system ,they are connected to the brake vac line through a check valve so if one of them splits you still get full brakes .
The vac pumps on the back of the alt ,the larger pipe goes to the brake servo. _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |

Took delivery of my recon alt yesterday and they took my old one
All looked great until i noticed the large oil pipe fitting that comes out of the back vac pump on my old unit now comes out of a stem on the side of the vac pump on the new unit.
Ffs! Wish id stripped my old pump off! Now another week off the road. |

Thats a bit odd ,all the oil feed pipes normally go in the end plate not the side ,wheres the oil drain on the new one _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |
