oil pressure ?? what do you think it is

heres one for you 3.1td runs at 50lb when cold running or ticking over but drops down to 30 lb when ticking over when warm and shoots back up to 50lb when running ,now iv changed the oil, a little bit better for a day then drops again ,now is it the oil being not of top grade ,or is it the oil releaf valve sticking ,if its the releaf valve is it an easy job to take it apart to free it up a bit or is its easy`er to change the oil pump ??? and whats the best oil you have found for this motor being im a tight git ..so none of that £27 a gl stuff please Very Happy thank ....its my first post as well so hi to every one Laughing

That sounds perfectly normal to me, when the oil is cold and thick the pressure will be higher, at hot idle it'll drop and then go back up when you're driving.

oils thick when cold so ull get high pressure. Pressure should fluctuate up or down with revs. so its ok.

Just 15/40 semi synthetic with a motorfactors filter will be fine.

ok its just that when i had it nearly a year ago and had 83,000 miles on the clock it stayed at the same pressure all the time ,now done nearly 90,000 and it drops on tick over ?

maybe it was overfilled hence the un fluctuating pressure

Or there was a loose wire on the sender/bad earth/bit of dirt blocking it. Fluctuating oil pressure as you describe it is normal.
