I'm thinking of buying a small tin tent, probably a 2 berth around 800Kg  Very Happy
Has anyone towed such a 'van with a modded Trooper like mine? The rear springs are standard with 3"  spacers, its got ProComp ES9000 +2" shocks all round and has retained both antiroll bars....
I may have to fit an adjustable towing bracket to level things up, can you guys forsee any problems?   Shocked

Cheers cam, I reckon as long as I behave it will be ok, its actually 7" higher than standard, I didn't mention the body lift......
Not that it will alter anything: I'm sure it will be ok, I will add one of them stabiliser bars (most of the caravans I've looked at have them on already)
I haven't driven a 'van before but used to drive a huge tractor and trailer when I worked at Oldham Athletic laying the new pitch, must be 15 years ago  Shocked

Body lift wont make any difference Mike as its the body that's lifted not the chassis where tow bar is attached.

I've just bought a caravan and used a 4" drop plate to get tow bar down, caravan sits level when hitched, have a look at pic in bb2014 thread.

What ever lift you have with tyres and suspension is near enough what drop plate you need.

33's, and a 2" suspension lift (4" higher) Put a drop plate on the tow bar and have no problems at all.

For people wondering body lifts don't affect towing as the tow bar is attached to the chassis.

Cheers chaps!
I didn't mention the body lift as I thought it didn't feature here, but must admit to being concerned about the top heavy weight distribution  Shocked
Anyroadup, I'm only after a lightweight, 2 berth 'van, but thought I'd ask first!
Thanks for the input, I am now going looking for my luxury tent...then I need to remember how to reverse.....

Didn't actually go looking, mores the pity!
I actually wasn't interested in tin tents then, its just recently, with the non stop rain, that camping has lost its appeal  Shocked
I can get a tidy 2 berth with bog, shower, heating etc for around £500 at this time of year: AND me and the missus/my mate can go to the BB in it and pay the same as me in my bivi would cost!

Does this mean I'm finally beginning to feel my age?  Crying or Very sad

I just hook mine on ... and if it's still there when I get where I'm going it's a bonus  Laughing  Laughing

But once you had a van .... you'll not want to tent again ...

If Teds arrives in one piece its a miracle!

Though exploiting child labour to clean the mess when a burst tyre takes out the supplies cupboard was genius.

Forgive me, but wouldn't the BB14 then cost you £600 plus, instead of just the £60. Or is that just me feeling my age. Wink

I put a ladder frame hitch on mine, and aside from a wee bit of clunk bump as a result of the tolerances on the pins it works a treat - landy springs on rear giving approx. 3" lift with 2" T bar crank at the front.  Very Happy  Very Happy
