Well now I know why a 24 volt set up is so popular on these double winches . yep that is 700 amps inrush current your looking at on the meter and a 12 V system ,I was looking for why the sidelights kept dimming when the winch was working .Pair of Warn XP motors on it .
The old single motor Bowmotor 2 on the Warn 8274 pulled 335 amps at full load with stock gearing so its to be expected ,ah well more work /hobbies to do .
20mm drop anchor in the floor and a eybolt to pull against . _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |

The lights were dimming? I'm surprised there is any copper left in the wires after that, last time I put anywhere near that power through a 12v cable all that was left was some burned black dribble and spots of what looked like solder splattered a foot away _________________ 2000 Duty SWB, now a 3.1 thanks to TrooperDan! |

The motors run on two awg#2 size cables so that's not too much of a worry it's the current draw that needs to be less the alt can't keep up ! _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |

In the end yes but its going to be overvolting (24 through the 12's) for now as that seems a popular way of doing it . _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |

Overvolting the 12v motors will roughly double the current draw, its usually for faster free spooling so challenge trucks dont run over the winch line or for limited fast speed winching. 24v motors will obv reduce the current draw by roughly half.
What does the current drop to after inrush ? inrush does only lasts for a split second _________________ 1999 3.1td SWB Trooper. RIP
