Was it trooper Ian who bought a copy tech 2  and it worked ok ? He was willing to come out with it and was up near you.

You can check if any fault codes are stored yourself with a paper clip in the OBD plug,plenty of posts on how to in the forum.

The sump can be dropped in place and all that's needed is some silicone sealer and maybe a bit of welding if the pipes broken .

My guess is that no fuels reaching the injectors or it's pulling air both of which are easy to check or the injection system oil is not getting to pressure which really wants tech 2 but others on here have made a tester by getting a pressure gauge fitting onto the pressure pipe from the pump.

yes it can be done in situ just undo the ring of bolts and drop the sump off, then it's about £70 plus the dreaded i think for a new strainer and seal
