|

Folks,
grateful for some advice on problems with a 1999 Trooper Citation 3.0 DOHC Turbo.
Engine was firing on only 3 cylinders up to 1800 rpm then on all 4 over above that, and oil pressure was 30 rather than 80 psi. Removed injectors and sent them to Merlin Diesel for inspection/replacement - 3 were good, one had to be replaced.
Injectors replaced. Lube oil, oil filter and fuel filter all changed.
Engine is now running but with a slight imbalance at tick over and oil pressure drops from 80 to 35 psi after about 5 miles. Oil isn't being contaminated by diesel.
I would welcome any suggestions - knowledge of these engines seems pretty limited locally.

chances are the duff injector was still not working at over 1800 rpm, it is just that it would be less noticeable then.
A couple of questions, how did Merlin assess one was duff because I understood that few places had the ability to bench test them, next when you replaced the bad one, was it the same grade as before and were these then coded into the ECU as otherwise you could be over or under fuelling. Finally what oil did you refill with?
Our vehicle which is identical to yours does a similar thing with the oil pressure gauge so I wouldn't worry too much about that as it is not an accurate bit of kit and it always reads a lower pressure as the hot engine thins the oil. _________________ JDW

the oil pressures are spot on to what they should be give or take a psi or 2 so as lady driver says don't worry about them, and i would hazard a guess you still have an issue with an injector somewhere so find somebody with a tech2 and get an injector control test and balance test done |
