|
|
Probably been asked a thousand times but...
My rear tyres are coming up to needing changing for the first time soon, fronts haven't been on too long so probably sellable. The standard supplied tyres have been pretty good, quiet and grippy enough on road and I've only been 'delayed' once offroad whilst trying to reverse a trailer, luckily rocking it on the clutch with a few people pushing got it moving. There has also been the odd occasion where I've clenched everything and prayed to the please don't get stuck gods, mainly due to the fact that the sites I usually visit recover stuck vehicles with large loading shovels by pushing on the towbar with the bucket - no thanks!!!
So what ATs do people run? What are General Grabber ATs like? I fancy a set of ATs on it to help with the above but for the amount of time it's offroad I wouldn't do it if it was going to make it really noisy on the motorway or compromise it's road handling a lot as thats where it spends most of its time. |

Hi mate, I run BFGs on my 3.1 and general grabbers on the 3.0ltr, basicly the same tyre same tread pattern different name. cant fault them in any way shape or form, excellent on any terrain, excellent road manners in dry wet snow etc and quite as well. _________________ aka x66dag

Thanks for the info, could be worth a shot
I've found out a friend has some 'offroad tyres' on his works 2.5 rodeo so I'm going to find out what he has & go for a ride in that next time I see him. |

Anyone know what load rating you need, the ones on are 111S which is 1090kg, some of the ATs are 107s which is 975kg. The MGW is 2950kg with the heaviest axle being axle 2 at 1870kg. So a pair of tyres at 975kg each should be ok?! |

I run set of cooper discoverer AT3's, they are 245/70/16 111S as per factory spec so no issues with clearance or load rating. _________________

Thats good to know! How do they compare to the bridgestones noise / road grip / offroad grip wise? |

Went for the AT3 in the end. £99 ea fitted. Slightly noisier than the Bridgestones on the motorway but I can't say I really notice it even after 3 hours of driving. They have more grip than the worn out bridgestones but are a bit spongier going into corners etc. You don't feel quite as connected. I guess that's to be expected as I'm sure it will be softer to improve it's offroad / winter performance. Only real disadvantage I can find is they have cost me about 3mpg |
