Had to get recovered last night the aa 4x4 keeps cutting out how can you tell if the fuel pump has gone 3.1  1996 ?

I'd be looking at fuel lines, primer and tank first to see if any air is getting drawn into fuel system.

Took fuel filter off today was not much fuel in it tipped it out put it back bled it loads of air in it started up ran for 5 mins then cut out had to bleed it again loads of air started back up again then same again noticed if I kept pumping on the primer it kept running looked under beside tank the pipes were dripping a bit diesel could not see which one they were very rusty could it be sucking in air from one of them pipes ?

I've just replaced my lines with rubber hose, cost about 35 quid for hose and an hours work. 8mm supply and 6mm return,  bout 6m of each for my swb,  bit left over.

Cheers think I will get some of that pipe 😉 so would a drip in the pipe just after tank cause this problem does it suck in air.

Yep, even a pinhole will allow enough air in to cause problems.

Yep X2, and if you run on bio, don't replace it all with standard rubber diesel pipe, it's only lasted 1500 miles for me and I've had to replace it all as the bio was degrading it and it was correctly SAE rated pipe.
