There are 2 ,one main one down behind the exhaust and one on the other side under the starter motor.
The smaller one is not normally changed according to Isuzu but all good Trooper owners do it _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |

Thanks for the info about the oil filters. I was looking where they were this afternoon but ran out of time - and daylight - to pinpoint them. Bearing in mind I was a Disco-1 owner and used to peering upwards from under the engine bay to see all of the engine clearly above, I found my view from that angle was blocked by a steel deflector at the front and behind it a plastic guard (to protect the sump?) on my newly-acquired Isuzu 3.0 LWB Duty 1999 with original 4XJ1 engine.
Sorry for the very basic questions, but - presumably I have to remove the plastic guard to access the oil filters? - and if so, could you tell me how to do it please. The plastic guard seems to be held in place by, what appear to be, plastice screw-ends protruding downward when viewed from the underside. I'm therefore a bit baffled as to how to take this guard off. Is it a straight pull-off and push-on job or is there another way of doing it? One of the securing points is missing and has a cable tie in place, presumably because the original plastic fixing broke off.
I've no way of knowing if the the guard fixtures have been modified (apart from the obvious cable tie), or whether it is as it's meant to be. I'd very much appreciate any advice on how to remove it properly to access the filters (if indeed I do need to do that), and how to secure it back again after changing the oil and both oil filters. Thanks for any assistance |

You need to go further along and there should be an alloy guard held up with 4 x 14mm head bolts. This is to get at the main oil filter which is behind the exhaust pipe.
The other smaller filter can be got at by going on full right lock and raising the car up .
If there is a plastic guard then its a mod so pull it and see .
You will probably need some sort of filter tool to undo the filters . _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |
