i think I may be getting confused.
I get 6-3-7-4-6-3-7-4-6-3 etc. I seem not to be able to match these to the manual
thanks in advance |

Thats correct its 63 and 74 being displayed but 63 is from the white wire being cut and 74 is TPS which is a common trooper fault.
P0192 Rail Pressure Sensor Low Voltage Flash code 63
P0193 Rail Pressure Sensor High Voltage 63
P1485 Intake Throttle Position Sensor Low Voltage 74
P1486 Intake Throttle Position Sensor High Voltage 74 _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |

ok thanks, so I am not losing it
white wire is back in having just changed the orps
I can grab another tps from eebuygum,
but looking at the wiring diagram, they share a common power supply? could there be an issue there?
could the tps drain power to show a dtc with the orps?
or am I over thinking it and just change the tps |

Just drop the batteries off for 30 mins or so and it will reset the codes. Do the flash test again and if it is only showing the TPS don't worry too much about it. _________________ JDW

so now ( only) have these two codes and a lack of power |

pulled and cleaned the rops, not that it looked like it needed cleaning, moves freely.
she now starts OK second turn. I get the feeling she only starts once it has got it limp mode. but that's only a guess on my part |

Rops is the sensor in oil rail in the cam cover and the ropcv is the bit in the back of the high pressure oil pump.
You can't do much with the rops if it sends out the the wrong readings .
3.0 Troopers don't have a limp mode too early for the software to be written in the eprom . _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |

so by pulling the wire from the Rops, what should I expect to see, apart from a code.
would I expect to have more power or not?
I ask this because I suspect this is just a sensor, regardless of how the Rops is working, it I have full oil pressure then I would have full power. or am I missing something? |

Pulling the wire from the rops is just to prove its at fault when the engine won't start .
If its faulty it may let the engine start but not give full power and although when the wires out it reads full oil pressure back to the ecu all the other signals have to be seen too .
The ecu sees the gear your in ,engine temp, engine rpm, road speed ,boost, skinny pedal position ,fuel temp and oil temp.
Its the general opinion on here that the rops is a service part as it does fail often in odd ways .
If you can't get on a tech 2 a hydraulic system test point and fitting can be welded or brazed into the oil rail pressure pipe and a gauge put on to see the pressure and compared to the reading in the on line manual . If you can't get a digital gauge 0-4000 psi covers it but really you want 0-2000 for lower range accuracy just remember not to rev too high or the gauge will be scrap !
Normal diag goes like this for me .
No power on a 3.0 - filters first then clean out the map pipe on a euro 2 ,sensor itself on a euro 3.
Then tech 2 goes in looking for rops actual pressure against desired pressure same for the ropcv and the boost .
Then injector balance test and tappet clearances .
Other profesional nut rounders may use a different logic tree here . _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |

thanks
since the rops has been cleaned the orps replaced, a new flapy position thingy ordered,
I guess the next thing to check the rail pressure as you suggested. I have a gage of a fork truck I think that may do, pity about the welding. |

Map sensor pipe next really before going to pressures. _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |
