when my heaters are on and engine is warm , I can smell something like burnt water/ anti freeze smell ( that's even if there is a known smell ) its mainly in the cab , but can also smell it slightly when I open the bonnet .

no obvious leak that would cause this , but just asking here in case I,m missing something .

thanks

ps its only recent its started to smell like this

It wants a pressure tester putting on the system to see if it's holding the rad caps psi rating and the cap testing too.

rad is still full when cooled down , just hope all water is circulating ok , or the dreaded matrix as not got a pin hole leak

just smells too hot if you know what I mean. I stuck my nose in the header tank and it smelt a bit like you would imagine burnt water to smell.

will pressure test be able to find something as small as a pin hole leak

thanks

well no leak found after a pressure test.

I,m wondering if its the Rad, as that is where the very hot ie over heating smell is coming from, it stinks .

all top hoses over the engine are red hot , but bottom hose is hot but not as much as the tops.

this might sound daft, I thought it was coming from inside the cab  but as soon as you open the drivers door to get out , you can really smell it , temp gauge is reading ok right over centre so god knows .
maybe its the new anti freeze I put in ,  I,m just waiting for it to conk out  Rolling Eyes
