I have done something stupid.

After failing to locate the key-in-ignition beeper (does my head in!!)I thought I'd see if I could disable the key in ignition switch in the barrel, after pulling the white plastic part of it out and breaking it in the process my pickup will now not start, even if I close the circuit manually (beeps again).

Is this immobiliser related? I did put a squirt of wd40 down the barrel as the key was stiff, but I doubt that would have done any harm.

Any help much appreciated, I'm supposed to be going away first thing tomorrow morning!

Phew I think I've solved it, I had removed the Siemens immobiliser for access (still wired) without realising that since it has a plastic ring that surrounds the barrel, that it must be to sense a chip in the key perhaps, once I put it back in position she started no probs, with or without contact on the key-in switch, so no more beeping and also she starts. Yipeeeeee!!

Aye, so to recap, if you can't stick the key-in-ignition beeper just remove the switch on the side of the ignition barrel.

This does not affect the lights on constant beep when you open the door, it is actually better because it now beeps constantly if you leave the key in as I tend to do, before the key had to be out before it would beep constantly, so it was easier to forget if you had left the lights on.
