I just did one the other day, I'm a cheap skate so I just had a hose to the top of the rad flushed the rad out, then poured some dishwasher granules in the system, let it get up to temp, took all of the *beep* out, then did several drain and refills.
I've never ever had a trooper overheat on me even with towing a 3.5 ton + trailer with a fully loaded trooper, cooling system is good if working well.
(with the exception when I had a burst hose) |

you mean you put dishwasher granules in the rad ?? like it , and flushed out rad only or whole system.
do you reckon the rad holds most of the *beep* _________________ 93 SWB 3.1Turbo Duty intercooler

Needs to be done so you get all of it out, so say after a long drive, engine is up to temp. drain the rad, fill with water, put some granules in. Take it for a spin, so it gets hot, let it settle for a few mins on idle, heaters on hot fan on max, let it cool for a bit so the pressure cap can be released, drain and fill with water a few times so it completely gets out of the system. |

I've always used the cheapo ones from supermarkets, I've heard a few garages do this when the head gasket blows between the oil and water galleries after a new gasket is put on. |
