Anyone know if the manual box from a V6 petrol and the manual box from a 3.1td are the same, and has anybody ever fitted a later 3.0td (push button 4wd) manual box into an earlier 3.1td?

Just that mine's getting noisy in 2nd and at the last oil change there was a bit of swarf on the box drain plug magnet.

I would have thought that a petrol box would have different ratios from a diesel box as petrols rev far higher than diesel engines, unless thats taken care of by changing the diff ratios.
