|
|
Using grandads trick of folding a bit of card when changing the oil filter on the 3.1 - no oil on the driveway / cross member / chassis, instead, all in the basin underneath the engine.
I used a 500g cerial packet folded in half lengthways then creased down the middle and it shoved up below (the just loosened) filter a treat, and all oil runs down the crease. Also possible to get a new filter on with the card still in place _________________ For great insurance deals on 4x4s, imports and more, contact Adrian Flux :

I use a slice of printing plate cut to size, is a good idea though, just remember next time! _________________ Every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff from out of my brain.

Just need a trick for the 2.8 td now! The filter is upside-down, so it empties as you take it off.
And, it's halfway up the engine behind the turbo! |

Drill a hole in the top of it, 5 minutes before you unwind it, and after emptying the sump. I'll bet you drain most of the oil out before removing it. Then have a large jam jar lid ready to slide underneath it as you lift it off the thread and upwards?
That presumes enough space to get both arm or drill in...
