Hi. My name is Mike, I'm English but living in Northern Ireland. This is my first post here, but read the threads many times while searching for answers to my Trooper problems.
A quick rundown first. Bought the Trooper swb 3.0 Duty a few months back for £400 as a little spares or repairs project, as I own a small holding and needed a cheap 4x4.
Dug all the previous owners *beep* and dirt out of it, replaced front seats, exhaust, front drive shaft, front shocks, New battery, big wheels, and 2 New front tyres, lots of brake pipes, and repaired 2 diesel pipes. All this time she's been slow to start but driving nice.
She cut out on her way to her MOT retest and I've not been able to get her started since.
There is no oil pressure registering at the dash gauge while cranking. Oil on dipstick is old and ABOVE max line. Have cut white wire. No change.
if I remove air filter lid and squirt easy start into air box and replace lid she will fire but not catch on. This is with white wire cut. I didn't try this before I cut the wire.
Have manually pumped fuel filter until diesel comes out of 10mm bleed screw.
I've checked the recall situation for this car, and its had all done except the TPS harness.
I'm tempted to throw any money at a 3.1 conversion. That way I could spend a few hundred and do the work myself and have something thats more reliable and easier and cheaper to fix in the future. Or just fix the problem if it's cheap and easy enough.
Any opinions will be greatly received.

i'd remove the oil rail control valve and check the plunger hasn't got stuck, if it has then replace it as it will only do it again

dealer pretty much although you can get them from the states a bit cheaper but they are £326+vat i think

That's a shocking amount of money for a sticky plunger in a £400 17 year old car. Almost as shocking as the £165 replacement key card for my £500 Renault Laguna.
Spending a few hundred to stick a much simpler engine in instead sounds more appealing to me.
