|
|
Hi Everyone,
If the transfer box is jumping out of 4L when under load is the transfer box worn out or is there something else that could cause it?
1992 LWB Bighorn 3.1D Manual with 300,000KM
I am hoping its just something like the oil need changing but knowing my luck, it means a new(er) transfer box

Sounds like wind up. Are you driving it on tarmac? _________________ 1990 Isuzu Bighorn LWB Mk.I 2.8TD Manual Lotus Edition

A bit more info.
It works fine in 4wd High and 2wd High but jumps out of 4wd Low.
I can put it in 4L and it drives but any load or if I take my foot on the accelerator and then the transfer box pops out of gear. A bit scary when your driving down a steep slope using engine braking |

Sounds like its not engaging properly. Dumb question but your are moving the lever back far enough aren't you ... or is something stopping it from doing so. Body lifts can cause this issue where the hole doesn't allow the lever to move back far enough and the tunnel has to be fettled to allow it to do so. _________________ 1990 Isuzu Bighorn LWB Mk.I 2.8TD Manual Lotus Edition

Hi,
That's what I thought but I couldn't get it to engage any further back.
It hasn't been modified from standard so nothing "should" be stopping it. I will have a look around the top if the transmission tunnel to make sure nothing is blocking it.

I know on my Mk.I the lever goes much further back in 4L than it does in 2H. _________________ 1990 Isuzu Bighorn LWB Mk.I 2.8TD Manual Lotus Edition

I have a '94 3.1 manual, and have the jumping out of low box issue, though I did notice that when I put it in 4L when I then put it gear, I note the 4wd lever moves forward slightly, then if it is taken out of gear then back in, 4wd lever moves forward again and out of 4L, is this likely just a selector issue, possible to reach through top of box in situ ?
