Hi all,
New to this forum and happy to have found such a wealth of knowledge. I'm looking at acquiring a trooper 3.1ltr of year 2000. What should I look out for when purchasing one? I noticed from the pictures that the seats are a tad worn out. Are these and other interior items easy to replace? The body looks ok no apparent rust though ill take it to someone professional to check it out. Theyre asking for 5800eur for it. |

Yes it is, I asked a friend who also has a 3.1 ltr from the same year. Today I went to see a 1999 trooper 3.0ltr engine LS version with grey leather interior. To my surprise every electronic part is still in good working order, mirrors still fold on button press, heated seats working, electric seats working. Interior doesnt seem like its had much use. Mileage reads 94k not sure if these are miles of kms, seems on the low side which made me rather sceptic of a truck its age.
Not much experience with 4z4 so couldnt tell if the car was behaving like a trooper should. D3fi ately noticed the body roll on the roads. Didnt try the low gear or 4x4 owner was short of time so I asked him to bring it to a garage for inspection. If he does agree to that i'll consider it further. Asking price is €7500 which i think is steep for its age but needs closer inspection by a pro before i can tell what mods it may need to get the old man in running order. I liked the high position thoughr the sound of the 3.0ltr diesel engine reminds me of thise vans that drove us to school. |

it will have issues with injectors and orps and whilst most things can be fixed with use of the forum sometimes it will need a tech2 so make sure you know somewhere that has one and how to use it, as for other issues look at the posts on the forum and gather an idea of what goes wrong with them.
when they are running right there is loads of power and they will show a 3.1 a clean pair of heels very easy as well as being more refined and smoother |
