Hello again guys!
I own a 1998, 3.0 TDI trooper and now it has a new problem.
The body is filling with water, in the trunk, where the jack is kept.
As I took the jack out I smelled something fishy so I took a look with a flashlight.
The body is filled with stale water, almost halfway to the jack itsels.
Now on the outside of the car, just behind the side of the bumper, there is a white plastic plug(about the size of a pack of smokes) and behind it there is some sort of sponge.
I pulled on the plastic plug(it did not come out, I only managed to bend the corner of it) and some of the water started to pour out but some of it is still left in the body of the car.
How do I get it out and where is it coming from?
Thank you! _________________ I expect nothing. I fear no one. I am free. |

The plug I was talking about it behind the side of the bumper, where the red square is in the picture:

think thats a vent to allow air flow, i would guess the light cluster is the cause of the leak and i think theres a rubber grommet on the inside of the body up by the exhaust which would be easier to get out |

Thank you, I will go and check.
Should I let the rubber grommet open? Since the car is filling with water, I guess it would be a smart thing to do. _________________ I expect nothing. I fear no one. I am free. |

I checked for holes, cracks, etc. Nothing. Car is solid.
Only way the water could get in is via the the lights cluster, like you said.
The seal is pretty bad but I can't find a new one, anywhere.
I might use some silicone but it's kinda... well kinda tacky.
The car is at a local garage, at the car painters or whatever you call them
They will fix the drainage but unsure if they will fix the actual problem, water going in. _________________ I expect nothing. I fear no one. I am free. |
