Hello
My Trooper is far too horny.  I'm trying to work out why the horn has stopped working, I've changed the solenoid ( but when connecting to 12v the old one seems to work) with no joy.  So then I thought I would check the earth on the horn.

How many horns should there be, I keep finding them, I'm up to 4 now and they are spread all over the place.  Bulkhead, by lights in the engine bay , by the lights in front of rad etc.

Which one is the horn I should be looking for?  Also is there anything else I should check?

thanks for any help

Jon

think the ones by the bulkhead are for the antitheft system so it's not them, the front ones are for the main horn and you have  high and low note so thats the two at the front

Thanks

I keep meaning to bring it over to you for a service and a check over again, but I just don't have the time at the moment.  Hopefully I will have it fixed by the time I do.

Any tips on what to look for?  Is it earthed by the horns connection to the mounting point?

Thanks
Jon

have you checked the relay? feed comes in via the horn/hazard fuse through the solenoid of the relay and up to the steering wheel, you press the horn button that energises the relay which puts power to the horn

I've replaced the solenoid in the engine bay fuse box with a new one, is that what you mean?

The hazards lights work OK as well.

thanks

I've checked the horns and if I separate the horn relay an manually actuate it then the horn sounds.  The relay/solonoid also works when wired direct to the battery.
There are three solonoid connections, the two horizontal are giving me 12v permanent the third vertical one is not giving me anything with the horn compressed, but needs to get 12v to work the solonoid.

So it looks like it's from the horn button to the solonoid...any ideas??

The only other thing that's not working properly is the airbag warning light is illuminated.

Thanks for any help

Jon
