Hello people. Looks like I'm stranded for Xmas. This is what happened: I was driving my bighorn 3.1d and suddenly the charge and fuel light came on. On lifting the bonnet i found the Blue power relay had melted....Eek!!  The next day I replaced it only for the same thing to happen 20 miles down the road. Now, this suggests its the alternator and/or the voltage regulator. The dashboard voltmeter is reading 15v+ confirming my suspisions (I think?). My questions: 1. Can you replace the regulator separately to the Alternator and has anyone done that job and is that the way to go, or should I replace both? 2. Alternators vary massively in price anyone found a reliable one at a decent price? 3. With the blue relay removed can i now drive around on what i assume will be battery power only? Any other relevant info appreciated. P.S. Happy Xmas to you all XXX
